The number of divorce in Florida is increasing every year. This means that the divorce records of the state is also increasing making it more difficult and tedious to find such files on the archive. Divorce certificates re also a public document that the residents of Florida can access whenever they need it.

A divorce certificate is made when the marriage of a couple is no longer working and they decided to make their separation legal. Making the separation legal helps the couple to continue on with their lives normally as a person without a partner. With this, the divorcee can process transactions in the government using the certificate as proof of the separation. One would only find the names of the couples who got separation along with the date and the place where it was granted. Other sensitive information about the separation is kept private including the reasons for the divorce and legal matters such as the custody of the children and the property division. This is done for the protection of both parties.

Only divorce cases which have been registered since June 1927 are available for request in the state of Florida. One should know that there is a very minimal fee of $5 to have the request processed. If the requesting individual does not have any idea as to when the separation of the couple was legalized, a $2 additional processing fee has to be paid per year that is being looked into.

In Florida, the Vital Records Section is the one responsible for keeping the public documents of the state, which includes the divorce records. The state office only keeps those which are dated from 1927; otherwise, the files are kept at the county clerk office. This is the place that one should go to if the record that is being requested is before 1927. One can also file the request via mail order but all of the requirements have to be enclosed on the envelope to avoid delay and hassle. Another way to get a copy of the divorce certificate is to search for it online.
