Acquiring Marriage Records Public Using The Web

by Claire Dowell

If you want to retrieve Public Florida Marriage Records, you can find them at the Florida Office of Vital Statistics. Their office keeps every documented marriage in the state since June 6, 1927. Documents of marriages that transpired before June 6, 1927 are kept by the county Clerk's office or church where the marriage was realized.

The public is given the right to access marriage documents because they are deemed as public documents. The documents are the only documents recognized by the court to support the authenticity of a marriage. If a person intends to get a divorce, marriage documents are part of the requirements. Some people make use of the documents to check if the person that they are about to get married to is not involve in another marriage.

To initiate a search, you must be able to provide the names of the owners of the records, which are the husband and the wife, and the date and place where their marriage occurred. You should also provide your full name and contact information. A marriage certificate will cost you $5 for each copy. There is no limit as to how many copies you can get but you will be charged $4 for each additional copy. If the records you requested for are not found, you will not be given a refund. It usually takes two to three weeks to process a request for marriage records. Fortunately, if you want them sooner, you can request a rush service which normally takes three business days.

A couple must secure a marriage license so that their marriage can be considered legal. Both the bride-to-be and the groom-to-be must be present at the time of the application for the license. Both parties must present a valid ID that is issued by the government and it should contain their full name, age, and signature. If one of the couple is under the age of 21, a written consent from the parents should be provided. The cost for applying for a license is $93.50. The issued license is valid for 90 days, which means that the couple make use of the license within that span of time. However, they must wait at least three days before they can proceed with the matrimonial rites.

It is particularly difficult to search for marriage records if you do not know the exact place where you can find them. Thankfully, there exist online service providers that cater to providing them to the public upon request. There are a number of service providers available on the Internet but not all of them can be trusted. To determine the credibility of a certain service provider, you can perform a quick background check on them. You can make use of user reviews to find out if other users are satisfied with the kind of service that they are offering.

Marriage License Records are also available online. If you are requesting your own files, the process is relatively easy. If you are requesting the files of another person, you will have a harder time getting them because usually they are made available only to the husband and the wife, their lawyers, and any other entity that has the approval of the court to obtain them.
